Porcelain Veneers: How to Gain a Confident, Beautiful Smile
In today’s world, a striking smile can bring you happiness, success and even a longer life. If you feel like you are missing out on what your smile can offer because of your dental flaws, veneers may be the fix for you!
Dr. David Trotter offers porcelain veneers in Sevierville, TN for patients who are searching for a dental solution to a better, more attractive smile.
What are Veneers?
Veneers are custom crafted pieces of porcelain that are attached to the front of an unattractive tooth.
Veneers can be made out of composite resin or porcelain material. Dr. David Trotter offers expertise in porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers better match the shine and shade of your teeth for a natural enhancement. Additionally, porcelain veneers are stain resistant to provide a whiter smile for longer.
Is it Difficult to Get Veneers?
The process of receiving your porcelain veneers is quick and painless compared to other procedures! While there may be additional follow up appointment required, getting veneers can be completed in just two visits with Dr. Trotter.
First Visit. Dr. Trotter will examine your oral structures to ensure veneers are right for you. During this visit, a small amount of enamel is removed from the teeth that will receive veneers. Removing the enamel from your natural tooth helps to create a better, more comfortable fit for your veneers. Anesthesia is typically not needed for this pain free procedure but can be used for nervous patients.
After the enamel is removed, Dr. Trotter will make several impressions of your tooth and surrounding areas. These impressions will be sent to the laboratory where your custom porcelain veneers will be designed by experts. Before your veneers are created you will be able to specify the shade, shape and size of your veneers. It generally takes 2 weeks for your veneers to be designed and sent back to our office. In the meantime, a temporary restoration will be used to protect your tooth.
Second Visit. Once we receive your veneers from the laboratory, Dr. Trotter will begin the process of bonding them to your natural teeth. Once you have examined your veneers and are satisfied with the appearance your temporary restoration will be removed and Dr. Trotter will bond the veneer to your tooth using dental cement.
Using a special light, the cement is hardened and the veneer is permanently bonded into place. Once the final touches are made you are free to enjoy your new smile! Follow up appointments may be required to check on placement and general oral health with your new veneers.
